How to change thumb size, then edit template properly
Posted: 2009-09-28 11:47:42

Want to increase thumb size on adult-dark template from 120x90 to 160x120.

What templates and settings will I have to adjust?

global settings thumb size? index.tpl? css thumb container?

You will need to update the Thumbnail Size setting and the following style definitions:

.video-container .video-thumb

what about individual templates like index.tpl and this:

i guess we should change the 10 to perhaps 8, as the thumbs will be larger and only 4 can fit in a row now...or will the script figure that part out on its own?

taken from adult-dark-rewrite

          sort=date_last_view DESC}

          {foreach var=$video from=$videos}
          <span class="video">
            <div class="video-container">
              <a href="{$g_config.base_uri}/video/{$video.video_id}/{$video.title|t_urlify(7)}">
                <img src="{if $video.thumbnail}{$video.thumbnail}{else}{$g_config.no_preview}{/if}" class="video-thumb" title="{$video.title}" thumbs="{$video.num_thumbnails}" />
                <img src="{$g_config.template_uri}/images/{$video.total_avg_rating|t_nearesthalf}-stars.png" class="stars" />
                <span class="fs80">{$video.duration|t_duration}</span>
                <a href="{$g_config.base_uri}/video/{$video.video_id}/{$video.title|t_urlify(7)}" title="{$video.title}">{$video.title|t_chop(35,'...')}</a>
              <span class="fs80">{$video.total_num_views|t_tostring} {if $video.total_num_views == 1}{"_Text:view"}{else}{"_Text:views"}{/if}</span>

The software will always try to display the number of videos set in the amount option, so it may be necessary to adjust that value.

settings change made.

2 css settings changes made.

on adult dark's index template, i changed the output of previously viewed from 10 to 8, to provide room for the larger thumbnails., taking it from the default 2 rows of 5 thumbs (120x90), and now it should be 2 rows of 4 thumbs (160x120)

the result is 5 thumbnails crammed in the top row, and 3 thumbs in the bottom, with the text now pushed behind the stars.

image url shows sample.

In the .section-videos style definition you will need to increase the width setting. You will probably also want to adjust the width of the .video-container definition.

I have the same question except for the Blue rewrite template. I don't see the same style area's as you mentioned above.
I followed the same steps as above. It worked for 1 of my 2 thumbs only though. Not to mention the other missing adjustments I need info about.

Also .. I will be wanting to show 4 thumbs per row. I'll need to know how to that also please.

Also any other details I should know when changing my preview thumbs to 160x120 for the Default-Blue-Rewrite.

Thank you!

For the Default-Blue template set you will want to look at the following style definitions to adjust the thumbnail size and the number of thumbnails per row:

.horizontal-layout > span
.horizontal-layout .video-container
.video-container .video-thumb
.video-brief-thumb .video-thumb

Thanks. I figured it out for the most part. But now in the New Video area all the text and stars are under the thumb instead of to its right side. I cannot see anywhere to edit this. Thanks for your help once again.

You will need to edit the width setting of the .video-brief > style to a smaller value. Something around 73% should work.

Perfect! Thanks JMB! I've only been here for a week and I already love your script and support. Thanks again!

zugzug, your name is inspired from world of warcraft, isn't it? :p

No .. it was inspired from the movie Caveman.

Before WoW existed. Funny though.. I also heard it in the game. Just happens to be a coincidence.

Hello seem to be having a styling issue in the default blue template with preview sizes and thumbnail row

I would like to have 4 videos per line at 200x150 px

here is a screen grab

Here is what my css looks like but the thumbs overlap over each other or 3 on one line and 1 on the bottom line
.main-content {
width: 1000px;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
position: relative;

.horizontal-layout > span {
display: inline-block;
padding: 5px;
text-align: left;
vertical-align: top;
width: 24.5%;
margin-bottom: 18px;
/*font-size: 90%;*/

.horizontal-layout .video-container {
width: 124px;
position: relative;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;

.video-container .video-thumb,
.video-brief-thumb .video-thumb {
border: 1px solid #afafaf;
padding: 1px;
max-width: 200px;
max-height: 150px;

The .horizontal-layout .video-container style is set to 124px which is probably causing the problem. Increase that until you get the desired layout.

Chaghing the size, did not nothing. I am not sure why. The thumbs are still overlapping.
